Bathroom
Review the tub or shower entry, wet floors, seating, and places where support is needed. Start with the bathroom your parents use most.
Stairs & lighting
Look for loose rails, damaged steps, and dim routes. Consider the lighting along the trip from bedroom to bathroom at night.
Flooring & trip hazards
Look for loose rugs, cords, and clutter on frequently used paths. Keep the discussion practical and agree on what to move together.
Entrances & exits
Review steps, outdoor lighting, door hardware, and where keys or bags are set down. Plan how visitors or emergency help can reach the home.
Bedroom & kitchen
Check that familiar items are within comfortable reach and paths are clear. Discuss routines that require stretching, climbing, or moving heavy objects.
Emergency access & home monitoring
Agree on an emergency contact plan and where important numbers will be kept. If considering monitoring technology, discuss privacy, consent, subscriptions, and who will respond.
